Ready, Set, Taste { or Not}

Today we started with our sensory bin & Turtle power :) I added 12 hidden turtles into our bin, all with different textures on the shells. After finding all 12 and counting them and hiding them again- making sure to get our good sensory time in, we headed to the feeding portion of therapy.

Today B started with cheerios. He has always loved them. Next I chose Goldfish Puffs, these are a puffed version of regular goldfish. He made it 3 steps before placing it in the all done bowl. Now, I want to stress he was excited to try these, the package looked safe to him, the name goldfish is safe. The smell of these was to much and in the bowl they went. Next was a gerber strawberry bite - its similar to a triscut with strawberry filling. He made it to the licking step, he also played with it and broke it apart to see the inside. Welshes has new freeze dried fruit pouches, we tried the strawberry & banana pack- He touched the banana but didn't make it to the Kiss/Lick step.
After taking a quick one minute break we returned to the table and started with a Simply Balanced Fruit Strip {this is similar to a fruit leather} Although very hesitant he took a mouse size bite and swallowed :) Next up was a banana muffin, this item did not make to the mouth but he did touch and smell it! I am so proud of him for working with me and really TRYING, He wants to eat normal ~ Texture, Sensory & Anxiety prevent him from it! We will get through this !
